BRITISH CARS.
With reference to your' article "Outstripped" in Monday's "Star," Mr. Robert Bell may- have closely observed the trend of industrial development in Great Britain, but he certainly did not observe the motor industry. The British workman, in this industry at any rate, does put his best into his work, 1 with the result that the article cannot compete in price with the American , article. The British manufacturer cannot afford ta produce a special car solely, for export, and liis home market demands a small horse power. No altering of the gear ratio can increase the horse power. The reason the clearance has not been affected is that there is 110 need for it to be. Why do so many New Zealand people buy British ears if they do not ; fulfill their requirements? E. C. PARKER.
