Damage During Gales In Australia. MANY LUCKY ESCAPES. (Received 12 noon.) ' SYDNEY, this day. Floods • in, the south and terrific storms in the nonth und north-west have caused widespread damage and have dislocated telegraph and railway services on the south coast. Washaways occurred on the railway lines, the water being 'three feet over the permanent way. The outskirts of the town of Cootamundra are flooded and a huge inland sea extends for miles. A terrific electric storm, followed by a cyclonic storm, caused enormous damage in the Grafton district. Cattle were struck dead, homes wrecked and the town plunged in darkness. Many persons had remarkable escapes from death. ~..
