£25 CASH PRIZE PUZZLE. FIRST MONEY TO DARGAVILLE BOY. WIDESPREAD PUBLIC INTEREST. The several thousand attempts to solve- the £25 cash prize competition which appeared in "Enzed Junior" amply displayed the widespread interest aroused by the puzzle. The correct solution was 4072. Although the correct total was not submitted by anyone, two children tied for first place, each being three units away from the correct figure. In accordance with the rules the prize was given to the competitor whose entry was first opened. The results are as follow: — First Prize, £15 Cash. McARTHUR, 25, Kingsland Av., Kingsland; age 14 4039 LAUREL JOHNSTON, 10, Newell St., Point Chevalier; age 12 .. 4080 BEATRICE FISHER, 14. Ponsonby Rd., Auckland; age 14 .. 40SG Many competitors, who did not carefully read the instructions, added as an addition sum the figures on the blackboard, thus adding approximately 4000 to the correct total.
