DRIVER ARRESTED.

AFTER SMASH AT RUKUHIA. YOUNG LABOURER INJURED.

HAMILTON, this day,

Thomns W r illiam McWilliams, aged 22, a labourer, of Huia Street, Frankton, was injured last evening when a motor car crashed into a telephone post at Rukuhia. The post was smashed and t!;e car was overturned. The motorists could not be released until eight men had lifted the car, McWilliams was found unconscious, and he was taken to Waikato Hospital, but his condition is not serious.

Peter Gillies Hansen, driver of the car, and Patrick Byrrio, another passenger, were not injured. Part of the Kukuliia telephone service was dislocate!?.

Hansen appeared before Mr. McEae, J.P., this morning, charged with being drunk when in charge of the car. He w.is remanded to appear on January 8, and bail was fixed at £30.
