TRUCK DAMAGED BY FIRE.

CAROL SINGERS DISAPPOINTED. A motor truck which had been promised to the Onchunga Salvation Army for the use of carol singers, was badly damaged by fire on Christmas Eve, aborit 11.30, when it was being prepared for the trip. The vehicle was in the tannery belonging to Sutherland and Company, and two men were filling the benzine tank under the driver's seat by the light of a hurricane lamp. The benzine suddenly burst into flames and enveloped both nipn, who, though not severely burned, .suffered from shock. The Onehunga brigade kept the fire from spreading to the adjacent buildings.
