GREATEST COMPLIMENT.

WAY TO SHOW GRATITUDE.

LONDON, December 21

"I think the man was perfectly right," said Mr. Alec Waugh, the novelist, commenting on the terms of the will of Edward Maugens, a Birmingham merchant, who said that the sooner his wife remarried, the greater compliment it would bo to him, as showing she now found life intolerable.

"It is a very great compliment to a woman to wish her to remarry after the death of her husband. It shows that she made a big success of her first marriage," said Mr. Waugh.
