CHRISTMAS CHEER.
CHILDREN AT CITY. MARKETS.
The large finiit mart at Messrs. Turners and Growers, Ltd., assumed quite a gala appearance on Saturday afternoon, when fifty children whose circumstances are not as happy as most were entertained by Turners and Growers, Ltd.'s Social Club. Tickets were distributed through Sister Pat, of the Auckland City Mission. A large number of children of employees "were present and together with adults niade a total of more than two hundred.
Sir. Xorman Tate, "the fun doctor," added to the , general merriment, while a plentiful spread of strawberries, ■ ice cream and other good things made many an evo sparkle. Father Christmas was there with all his old-time mystery, and every child received a gift from a'gailydecorated Christmas tree.
The whole-hearted assistance of a numerous band of helpers from the staff of Turners and Growers, Ltd., gave the children an afternoon which, will "live long in the memory.
