HAMILTON, this day.' ' Awakened at 5.30 yesterday morning by strange sounds, Mr. T. Mullin, who occupies a room in the Hotel Brighton, observed a man going through. the pdekets of his clothing at the end of the bed. It was daylight, and Mr. Mullin immediately leapt out of bed and-pur-sued the intruder downstairs and out of the house. The chase continued over fences and through paddocks, but the intruder had too great a "start, and. he escaped. --- • — .'. -
It is understood nothing was stolen. Mullin had a roll of banknotes in one pocket of his coat, but apparently it was missed by the thief.
