LOCAL BODIES.
NORTHCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting o£ the Northcote Borough Council was held last evening. The Mayor (Mr. A. E. Greenelade) presided. Destructor Working Costs. —Dr. H. Chesson, medical officer o£ health, wrote that he had made a recommendation modifying the area within which refuse should be collected at North cote. This exempted the portion of the borough which was practically entirely composed of strawberry beds, vegetable gardens, and small grazing farms. The secretary of the Board of Health, Wellington, ako wrote advising that it was understood the definition of the whole of Devonport and Takapuna boroughs, and the position of North cote, southward from Onewa and Gordon Roads, with limited exemptions northwards, as the area to be served on the North Shore for the collection of refuse, was agreeable to the three boroughs. It was decided to intimate to the Board of Health that the definition was ambiguous, and it would be necessary to go over the ground to see the location of the houses to ascertain which should be served, and that the council would be prepared to meet the board's representative and go over the ground and point out the area. Town Planning—The resolution of the recent town-planning conference was endorsed, and the creation of a regional area from Rodney County to Franklin County, inclusive, was approved.
Wharf Approach.—The borough overseer estimated the cost of continuing the present railing from the vehicular landing to the cliff at the southern end of the reserve, at £62. I lie matter was referred to the works committee.
TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.
The Tuakau Town Board met on Monday evening, Mr. J. Fulton presiding/ The board approved of plans for a combined Plunket room and rest room, to be erected in brick on- the corner site parallel with thg Town Hall on the boards own comm ittees in the Tuakau district forwarded particulars of roll numbers, in support of the proposal for the establishment of a school dental clinic at Tuakau: Onewhero 82, Opuatia 27, Harrisville 56, Pukekawa 40, le Kohanga 71, Whangarata 30. The Minister of Marine wrote that he was considering, the board's representations for the modication of the whitebait Soiling regulations.
