BEFORE HIS TIME.
PATRIOTIC DUNEDIN INVENTOR. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") DUNEDIN, this day. The production in France of artificial wool from vegetable fibre was referred to in the overseas cables last week. It is interesting to> note that a process similar to that mentioned in the cable was anticipated by a Dunedin resident in 1917, and patent rights for "Australia and New Zealand were taken out. Considering, however, that such an industry would have an adverse effect on the Dominions' wool trade, the patentee did not go any further with his investigations. . He has seen samples of the artificial product from France, and states that the local product is quite as good and certainly not nearly so costly.
