SWITCHED ON.

ELECTRICITY IN EIVERHEAD. To mark the switching-on of electric power in Eiverhead, a social evening, arranged bv the' Waitemata Electric rower Board, was held on Monday in the Eiverhead Hall. Members of the board present were: Messrs. J. W. Hayden (chairman). J. Mackie, W. • K. Leighton, G. O'Halloran and F. J. H. Wilson (engineer). Mr. F. Howlette, of Eiverhead, was in the chair, and in welcoming the visitors, stated that this ceremony marked a forward step in the progress of the district. Mr. Hayden replied, and performed the switching-on ceremony. A pleasing feature was the presentation of an electric kettle to the Eiverhead Hall to mark the event. \ musical programme followed, items being rendered 'by Misses Poore and Pittens and Mr. Donald. After supper the dancers took the floor, Mr. and Mrs. E. Gould providing the music.
