AUCKLAND CLUB FINAL.

BARTLBET BEATS ABBOTT. The final of the Auckland Club's championship was played on Saturday between E. L. Bartleet and Dr. Abbott. At the end of the morning round of IS holes Bartleet was 6 up, having played excellent golf. In the afternoon round Abbott won the first two holes in four, but the match finished on the thirteenth green in favour of Bartleet, the score being 6 up and 5 to play. Both got good drives away at the start of the afternoon round, but Bartleet pulled his second, while Abbott was outside the bunker. Abbott played a good shot and holed his putt, winning the hole in 4 to 5— Bartleet 5 up. Abbott was on the green with his second at the next, and Bartleet pulled his somewhat to the left of the bunker and duffed his third. Abbott went out in 2 putts to win in 4. At the third both were outside the green in two, and both overran the hole with their approaches, the hole b ing halved in 5. Bartleet slightly hooked his drive and was fifty yards short with the second at the fourth, putting his third almost dead. Abbott was on the green with two excellent shots. Bartleet missed his putt for a 4, and Abbott sank his for a win—Bartleet 3 up. Both were well to the left with their drives at the fifth, and were well short with their seconds. Bartleet played a good third, but the hole was halved in 5. At the sixth each was well clown the fairway with his drive, and Bartleet on with his second. His putt was on the lip of the hole, and Abbott knocked the ball in with his fourth. Bartleet 4 up. Both were through the green with their tee shots at the seventh, and the hole was halved In S. The eighth was also halved. At the ninth Abbott was in the donga to the right with his drive. Bartleet hit a beauty. He was on the green after three good shots, and holed out in 5 to Abbott's C. Bartleet was short of the bunker with his tee shot at the tenth, Abbott pulling his within eight feet of the pin. Abbott won j the hole in 3 to 4. The drives were on ! either side of the fairway at the eleventh. Martleet was on with his second and won the hole in 4 to 5. After an excellent drive at the twelfth, Bartleet made two indifferent shots, but each was about 20 feet from the pin with his third. Abbott lipped the hole with his putt but the ball failed to sink, the hole being halved in fives. At the thirteenth Bartleet's tee shot was eight feet from the pin, Abbott being short of the green. Bartleet won the hole in 3 and 4 and the match, 6 up andd 5 to play.
