TAUPO NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

There is a movement' on foot to form troops of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. To provide equipment for the Scouts a very enjoyable evening was spent in Rickits Hall. The Girl Guides under Mrs. Pearte gave excellent assistance, and during the evening performed the ceremony of presenting the flag to the Taupo district. The Union Jack, mounted on a staff and with a gilt emblem at the peak, was "presented" to the audience by three Girl Guides, after a ceremonial march by them and intending Boy Scouts. The formation was a horse shoe, the Guides being in uniform. At the "alert" the audience joined in the National Anthem. The event was stirring and picturesque.
