SOCIAL JOTTINGS.
The social, evenings held by the Holy Trinity Social Club, Otahuhu, were brojight. to a close in the Parish Hall, on Tuesday evening. Dancing was indulged in by the younger members, while the older members 1 played cards. . The music was supplied by Mrs. Andrew's orchestra. The Monte Carlo dance was won by J;lr - i ~G- ,;Q-;• F*. Paine and Miss 'M. Moss. Mrg>, Speed;'.wph; the: aggregate, 500 prize for the season. Mr. H. White carried off the aggregate prize in the men's division. Mrs. Jones and Mr. Waddell won the 500 card competition held during the evening. • • •' m.
A very pleasant time was spent by the members of the Ex-Army Nureinw Sieters' Association on Tuesday after° noon when they held a re-union at the Lyceum Club. The lounge was charmingly arranged with flowers, and an enjoyable afternoon tea was served. Miss Bagley, president of the association, welcomed the guests, among whom was Mrs. Tracy Inglis, president ■ai the Trained Nurses' Association. Among those who were present were: Mrs Spencer, Mrs. Clifford (Kaeo), Mrs. H. Warren, Mrs. de Jaunay, Mrs. G. Evans, Mrs. Hoddinott, Mrs. Whitefield, '-> Mrs G. Reed, Mrs. Gibbons, Mrs. "Chesney, Mrs. Evans, ,Miss Nutsey, Miss Rudd,' Mies Kenny, Miss Broun, Miss Austin, Miss Tilly, Miss Mirams, Miss Martyn, Miss Cumming, Miss Wright, Miss McIntyre, Mies White, Miss Campbell, Miss Parkinson, Miss Bird, Miss Nurse, Miss Mandeno, Miss Hood, Miss Garland, Miss Cherry, Miss Binsteed, Miss Evans. A twenty-first birthday party was given at St. John's Presbyterian Manse, Great South Road, Papatoetoe, on Tuesday evening, to Miss Leah Roseveare, elder daughter of the Rev. T. H. and Mrs. Epseveare. The rooms -were gaily decorated for the occasion and were made bright by poppies and pansies. , The decorative scheme for the tables was in pleasing contrast, with;a display of pinks relieved hy maiden hair fern. The, central features were the cake and the usual twenty-one candles. Mrs. Koseveare wore an attractive drees of .black panne velvet and amber relief. Miss Roseveare's frock was of duchess, blue crepe de chine with a.pink shawl. There were thirty guests present."' An entertaining evening included games and competitions and songs by Misses Mary Wileon and Bertha Wyllie. The winners of the competitions were. Miss Margaret Wilson and Messrs. Lewie Hungerford and Norman Hicks. The health of Miss Koseveare was proposed by her uncle, Mr. K. G. Sellar. Mies Koseveare, in responding, warmly thanked her numerous friends.
