ALBURNIA GOLD MINE. PICKED STONE FOUND. ENCOURAGING REPORT. The manager reports as follows:— The rise for leading stope on main Orlando lode has been risen 7ft x Bft in length. The reef here averages 3ft Cin wide, and looks very well, carrying nice mineral blend, antimony and 6ilica. Strong dabs of gold are seen in the ore, and, as wired, I selected 101b of picked stone. This is very encouraging, as this rise was started in the centre of block where gold was seen in driving for a length of 190 ft. I also took an underhand stope on the main Orlando lode 90ft south of rise Ld. stope. The stope taken out is 14ft long by Sft deep. The reef here averages ISin wide, and also looks well. Dabs of gold were seen in the ore broken. This proves the run of gold here on main reef is going down as well as up. Rise on cross leader from drive north on the hangingwall branch of Orlando lode has been risen Oft; a total of 31ft. The leader here has been pinched, caused by hard country coming up from the footwall, but we are through the hard country, and there is water coming out of the reef formation, That is 12in wide, with a nice band of quartz making on the hangingwall. There is a very good chance of getting a patch of gold here, as we are rising on the junction of the cross leader and the hangingwall branch of the Orlando lode. This cross leader in the rise has made good wherever it makes quartz. This morning the following telegram was read:—"Secured 101b picked stone from rise leading stope on main Orlando lode.
Lucky Shot Mines.—The following circular has been issued to shareholders in the Lucky Shot Mines : —"The work at the mine is progressing satisfactorily. The reef in the intermediate level has shown considerable improvement since September 25. It is split into two portions, both showing strong pold. When breaking down the reef on October 5. 01b of specimen stone was secured. The reef at this level has shown high-grade ore from No. 2 winze up to the present face, and has every appearance of opening up a large block for stoping. All ore is being saved for crushing."
