LABOUR DAY SPORTS.

GATHERING AT DOMAIN.

GOOD TIMES RECORDED.

ELLIOTT IN FORM

ADDITIONAL RESULTS

Some good times were registered at the Labour Day sports held on the Domain yesterday by cyclists and runners, although the track was slightly on the sodden side after heavy morning rain. Good fields faced the starter in almost every event, and the racing was keen and interesting. The" programme was well handled by an energetic committee, and good sport was the order of the day.

In the afternoon principal interest centred in the atliletic events, in which the outstanding competitor was T. K. Cainbie, a visitor to Auckland. He won the 100 yds handicap for the second year in succession, and put. in a fine sprint to win. A. J. Elliott, tlio Auckland and New Zealand sprint' champion, was in good form, being just beaten for first place in the 100 yds, and running fourth in the 220 yds. In the cycling events the scratch men for the most part.had an off day, and invariably were handicapped out of everything

Throughout the day the committee in charge of the gathering provided plenty of fun for the hundreds of youngsters who flocked the ground, the hill of fare including lollie scrambles and races galore.
