at the official opening on Saturday of the Mount Albert Bowling Club about SO; ladies were present, ! among whom was.Mrs. Garlick. She presided at the tea at the first meeting of the club in 1897. Miss E. Thomas, daugher of the president, acted as hostess. She wore a navy frock with bois.de rose and a hat to tone. Lady Fowlds wore a blue coat, grey fox trimming; Mrs. A. F. Bennett, black with a white hat; Mrs. W.' J. Hbldsworth, grey costume with fitch furs; Mrs. J. T. Wallett, green dress with beige; Miss Wallett, beige coat and hat; Mrs. B. Harbutt, beige enjemble; Mrs. E. Thomas, figured beauty satin and lime; Mrs. Oldham, black and orange satin beaute; Mrs. Shearer, black georgette, black hat; Misa Sandham, powder blue and peach beaute satin; Mrg. DEVONPORT. The Devonport bowling green was .opened, on Saturday afternoon by the .vice-president, Mr. Snoad, in the absence frf Mr. McGregor, the president. Speeches fare also made by the Mayor, Mr. B. Aldridge, Mr. Alex Harris, M.P., Mr. Coldicutt (president of-Auckland Centre). Mrs. McGregor was invited to throw the first "jack." Afternoon tea served in the pavilion, the tables being decorated with Icland poppies in metal vases. The Boys' Brass Band Played several items during the afternoon. . Last Thursday afternoon the Ways and Means Committee, of the Auckland "Wpital Auxiliary held an enjoyable Wtfgq party in the J.C.L. tearooms in *W of the auxiliary funds.
