NOT TIED TO BRITAIN.
"New Zealand Could Go Out To-morrow." PARR ON MUTUAL TRADE. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, October 16. Speaking at the opening of the North London Exhibition Sir James Parr approved in principle Empire free trade, but pointed out that one of the difficulties was that Now Zealand was manufacturing goods which Britain was making cheaper. He agreed with Joseph Chamberlain that mutually profitable trade was one of the strongest bonds uniting the people. There was no pact holding New Zealand to Britain. The Dominion could go out to-morrow and no British soldier would fire a rifle shot to prevent it. Therefore, it was the more necessary to cultivate things bringing all Britishers together.
