SYDNEY GRAFT CASE.
High Court Reverses Full Court's Judgment. PENALTIES REIMPOSED. (Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The High Court in a reserved judgment upheld the appeal by the Crown against the decision of the Full Court in the case of Babcock and Wilcox. Ltd., and restored the penalties imposed on the respondent firm last year. The Court held that the circumstances of the case supported the finding that tho late Sir Charles Kemnal caused £10,(300 to be placed to the credit of Mr. Frank Buckle in payment of the bribe demanded by Mr. Silas Maliiig. In July of last year the firm was convicted of bribing Silas Maling as a reward for his recommending thentender for a plant to be accepted and was fined £1000 and ordered to refund £10,000 to the Sydney City Council.
