TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS, WOOL.

The Department of Agriculture, has received the following cablegram, dated October 12, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—The market is quiet but steady. There was no auction this week and values are unchanged. Eggs.—The market is quiet at higher prices. Present quotations are: —English 22/ to 34/ per long 100; Dutch, 17/6 to 21/; Danish, 18/9 to 20/; Belgian,'l7/ to 18/6; ■ South African, 14/9 to 17/3; Polish, 10/3 to 14/. Hemp.—Manila is easier. Early this week J grade, October-December shipments, sold at £34, but reacted later on to improved demand. Good business is reported at £35 10/. Closing values, £36 5/. The'output from January 1 to September 30 was 1,220,000 bales, against 1,035,000 . bales for the same time last year. Stocks in Manila, 228,000, against 160,000. Sisal: • The market is a little easier. Closing values for fair average quality, October-December shipments, No. 1, £30; No. 2, £37 5/. New Zealand: The market continues dull with little or no trade. Demand is nominal. Comparative values are unchanged. Wool.—-The Bradford market is quiet, but there is a better undertone for Merino. New business in crossbred, with erratic and easier tendency in most qualities. Present quotations for tops are:— 64's, warp, 2/7 to 2/8 per lb;, average, 2/6 to 2/7; 56's 2/1%; 50's prepared, 1/11; 40's, prepared, 1/8 to 1/8%. /

FROZEN MEAT.

The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business last week:— The advance in prices has checked the demand for wethers, while ewes are affected, by large supplies from other sources. The.' demand for lambs is steady, butnot suffi-: cient to stand an increase in.prices. The beef market is short of supplies and prices are nominal. Wethers, light 6%d to 7d pef lb, heavy 5%d to ewes, 4%d to 4%d; lambs, twos B%d to M, eights 1%& t0.8.%d, fours 7%d to 7%d, seconds 7%' d to 8d; ox, hinds 5%d to 5%d, fores 4cl to iYid; cow, hinds 4%d to sd, fores 3%d to id.
