DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

SPRING MEETING, OCTOBER 10 AND 12. TRACK WORK AT WIXGATUI. FINE GALLOP BY ROYAL SAXON. (Bj Telegraph.—Spsciai to " Star.'') DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The Dunedin Jockey Club's spring meeting takes place on October 10 and 12 (Thursday and Saturday of next j week).

The weather was beautifully fine and sunny at Wingatui after light frost, and all tracks, including the outside of the course proper (with trestles 50ft out) and the inside of the course proper—for two-year-olds—were open, and in firstclass order.

Skysign opened proceedings by running seven furlongs on the course proper in 1.40. the last half-mile taking 58 l-ss.

Pink Note "was sent alone over seven furlongs, the last five in 1.9 1-5, and he could have gone faster. Dumblane did a strong working gallop over seven furlongs, and showed to advantage on the firm going. Bitractor, who is growing into a big horse, just headed Salnio Salar at the end of five furlongs on the plough in 1.9. Royal Saxon, with his trainer in the saddle, conceded Waving Corn fully a stone over five furlongs in I.G 4-5 on the outside of the course proper. The pace was on all the way, the first furlong taking 12 3-5s and the first two 25 2-ss. It was a very good gallop, and easily set the main for the morning's ■work. Mem bo and Some Toft' took 1.35 4-5 to run seven furlongs, and the latter showed up to advantage. Pink Paper, a full brother to Pink Note and the Tractor—My Beauty gelding— who has grown into a very big three-year-old—trotted around the inside track twice, sprinting a furlong along the back each time. In the second attempt they ran a furlong in 13 3-ss, quite a good gallop considering it was their first sprint. Money Mine started out to run ten furlongs, and was joined by Sailing Home at the seven furlong post. The latter finished in front in 1.37. It was a good gallop, and both horses look better for their racing at Orari last week. Tembroney, Matata and Solmar went once round on the plough, and sprinted home together over the last half-mile in 57 4-os. Stealth and Top Speed took 1.3S 2-5 on the course proper to cover seven furlongs. Tfte latter, who is a lazy worker, ran inside the trestle at the top of the straight, was ridden out with the whip and finished in front. Captivate ran half a mile by herself in 53 3-ss. Sun maid was just a little too good for Sky Blue over half a mile in 52 2-ss. Blue Metal and Circulation ran seven furlongs in 1.35 2-5, the former having the better of it at the finish. Brightling, looking well, was given a good stirring round on-.the plough -track. He promises to be one of the hard ones to beat in the hurdle races next week. Wig Wag was too good for her companion in a sprint home over three furlongs in 435. Assemble took 57 2-os to run half a mile in company. The Rosenor colt ran three furlongs in 40s by himself; Dressy (Last Dart—All Style) and I!oyal Raid taking the same time in company—both gallops on the rails. Black Duke and Francolin took the same time to run three furlongs on the outside of the course. The former has come back looking very fresh after his short let up. ' '. ' ; It is not likely that either Narrative or Glenrowan will be raced at Kurow next Saturday. - ■ - •
