Streets in the Auckland Electric ■Power Board's district will be flooded with light till 1 o'clock in the morning in future. "A decision to advance the switching-off time by an hour was made at to-day's meeting of the board, when letters from the One Tree Hill Road Board and the Onehunga Borough Council requested that the lighting of main thoroughfares, be extended-to 1 a.m. The extra period of lighting, it was stated, was favoured by the Transport Board. In view of the advent of water power from Arapuni, the general manager (Mr. K. H. Bartley) recommended, that street lighting in all local body districts, which was now extinguished at midnight, bis continued till 1 a.m.,,without any additional cost. I The recommendation was adopted, and in a month's time, lights will not bo i switched.off till -an hour later than at] 1 present. '
