UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE.
The Premier is doing the right thing in refusing to introduce unemployment Insurance this session and if he is wise he will not introduce it next session either. The unemployed do not want monetary gifts... They want Avork.. Industry is already staggering under a heavy load of taxation restriction and interference. One third of this money will come from the workers' wages; that, of course, is a tax on industry. One third comes from the employers, who will advance the price of their goods, which will be purchased by the workers. This also is a tax on the industrious worker. One third conies from the State, which will increase taxation on the commodities to be bought at an increased price by the workers. How the Labour party can support such humbug passes my comprehension. E. STEVEXSON.
