THE ANNUAL MEEfING. t ■ ■> A TRACK TO BE PROCURED. ' (By Telegraph. , —Special to " Star.") TE AROHA, this day. The .annual meeting of the Te Arpha Trotting Club was held last evening, Mr. H. E. Willcox presiding. The election of. officers resulted: — Patrons, Messrs. C. E., Macmillan, M.P., John Rowe and G. McMillan; president, Mr. R. L. Somers; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. Burke, P. Baine and H. E. Willcox; committee, Messrs. G. L. Burmester, C. V. Carley, G. Goodfellow, T. Hickey, H. Jackson, J. Kenny, W. Cunningham and F. T. Rowe; treasurer, Mr. G. Deverell. Mr. F. I. Hunt, a retiring vice-presi-dent, was elected a life member. The chairman favoured the club having a track of its own of , not. over six furlongs, either on the Jockey Club's property or elsewhere, in order to foster the sport in the district, which was now being done without training facilities. A motion was carried approving of the suggestion, the club to procure a suitable trotting track, and a sub-committee was appointed to confer with Mr. Gibbs, engineer, as to making a suitable'banked course on the Jockey Club's property, and failing this to report on the other properties procurable.
