NORTHERN ATHLETICS.
UNION'S ANNUAL MEETING,
Members of the Northern Athletic Union held their annual meeting'last-evening, Mr R. Coulter, of Te Aroha, presiding. There was.a good attendance. Motions of sympathy was passed wtih the relatives or the late Mr. J. N. I. McKay Waipu, and Mr. ■L. Kitehing, Northern Wairoa, prominent members of the union It was reported that although the number of affiliated clubs showed a slight decrease, the prospects for the coming season were bright. The balance-sheet showed a slight debit due to the heavy expense of the delegates to, the last conference in Auckland It was' decided that A. Preston's request for the repeal of his suspension by the Victorian Council be deferred until the next annual meeting. ■ The election of officers resulted as follows :—President. Mr. R. Coulter (Te Aroha) ; vice-presidents. Messrs. Jones (Tangitu), and J. M. Dawson (Victoria Valley) ; auditor, Mr. E. H. Edmonds (Te Aroha) ; council, Messrs. Swain (Waiuku) Draper (Maunjrakaramea), Pilkington (Tp Aroha, Vernon (Te Aroha), Ruddv (Whakatane), Bennett (Ruawai), Keen (Awakeri) Shannon (Springdale) : handicappers Messrs. F. T. McAneny (Auckland), and C Morrison (Te Aroha) for field events, and C. L. Hardy (Auckland) for chopping and sawing; secretary, Mr. J. L. Harris (Otahuhu).
