KICK OFF COMES BACK.
j AFTER SEVERAL SEASONS. Kick Off lias surprised by the manner sii which h'e raced recently, for it was thought that his \isefulness on the turf was over some time ago. HoAvever, at Wanganui he showed that he was anything but a spent light by finishing second on the iiret day and winning the Biggie Handicap on the second. In his next start, at Hastings on Saturday, lie von the Spring Handicap in good style, and he lias only to remain sound to further add to his record. He was a good three-year-old, winning his first four races—two seven-furlong events at DanTievirke, the McVay Memorial at, Napier 3 ark and the New Zealand St. Leger at Irentham. He was beaten by Amythas in the Trentlmm Gold Cup, two miles, in which ho suffered interference, and finished third ,„ the Great Northern St. Leger, while later he was third to Gloaming and Gasbag m the Ormond Memorial Gold Cup a length, and a neck dividing the placed horses. As a four-year-old he •won the Egmont and Taranaki Cups, was third in the Wellington Cup, second to Hapme m the Trenthanl Gold Cup, second 5n the Great Autumn Handicap at Riccarton, and third in the Ormond Gold Cup ito mention some of his efforts. He then went amiss and did not race the following season, while he only started twice as a six-year-old. He was not-raced a*ain till last December, and had three starts last season for one third in the Handicap at Woodville. This season he made his reappearance at the Waiifanui meeting, and in three starts has had two ■wins and a second. ■ v •■■-••■: .- -.
