FANCY DRESS BALL.

Harmony-Rebecca Lodge held a fancy dross ball in the Victoria Hall, Birkenlicad, on Saturday, when there was a good attendance. The judges for the fancy dress prizes were Mesdames Xewbold, Tailby and Boles, and the winners were: —Best fancy dress, lady, Mrs. G. Paltridge, Eastern lady; gentleman, Mr. K. White, carnival. Most original, lady, Mrs. A. hite, witch; gentleman, Mr. F. Pugh, fireman. Most comical, Mrs. Hilton, "The Wreck." and Miss Joan Wallis, "A Sleepless Knight." Others in fancy dress were: Miss 0. Howarth, Hawaiian girl; Mrs. X. Hadfield, chubby umbrella; Mrs. O'Connor, gipsy dancer; Mrs. Gracie, Hinemoa Park; Mrs. Wallis, fortune teller; Mrs. Turvey, Hawaiian girl; Mrs. Brennan, N". G. Harmony; Mrs. Gou'lden, pierrette; Miss Sarah Beacon, Japanese lady; Mrs. Beacon, "Which Is It?"; Mrs. I. Gully, an oldfashioned window.
