WONDERFUL YEAR.
BRITISH MOTOR INDUSTRY. DOMINION SALES INCREASE. ADVANCE IN AIR TRANSPORT.! All 'the "motor manufacturers in -England Lave reported a Wonderfully successful year, said Mr. W. F. Fowlds, of Auckland, to-day, on returning from a six months' tour abroad. In many eases the factories were working double shifts, and Mr. Fowlds was much impressed at the size and extent of the plants, and the up-to-date methods of production. British motor sales had increased in India, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, he con J 'nued, and there was a general movement to adapt new models to overseas conditions. The delegation headed by Sir Archibald Boyd Carpenter, which visited New Zealand in 1927, had a widespread influence in this connection on the motpr industry.
Mr. F. W. Fowlds. While in England, Mr. Fowlcls spent two days at the »?■"> exhibition at Olympra, at which Germany, France, Italy and other countries were represented, and he made the crossing to the Continent by the Imperial Airways service. The accident which occurred in the English Channel did not cause any noticeable disturbance to public condence in aerial transit. At Croydon big commercial 'planes were arriving at all hours of the day and night, from the capitals of Euro.pe. Four services were run daily to Paris, and others connected with Berlin, Rome, Zurich and Brussels. Aero clubs in England were very active in private flying.
