ACCIDENTS.
A painful injury was sustained by Mr. W. 35. Hooton, a waterside worker, while employed on the steamer Kurow about nine o'clock this morning, was unloading cargo when he was struck in the eye. A cut was inflicted on the eyeball. He was taken to the hospital by the St. John- Ambulance, but after attention he was able to go to his home. Mr. Hooton is a married man, aged 49, living at 31, England Street, Ponsonby. v . A youth, G. E. Carpenter, aged 18, employed in Messrs. Bycroft, Liniited's factory, had his 'leg broken this morning 'when a bag of flour fell on. him. He was working under a' stack, and received the whole weight on his right leg. He was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance. Ills condition is reported to be not serious. He lives at 78, Lincoln, Street, Ponsonby.
