WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED. iLABtjGiE GANG FOR ROADING JOB. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) . WHANGAREI, this day. The Borough Council's finance committee found yesterday that its maintenance account had been overspent during the last few months. Maintenance works -will have to be curtailed. The Labour Bureau received instructions yesterday to put a large gang of men on the Kiripaka-Ngungurti road. The bureau is taking over the •Whole Of the unemployed Who have registered their names at the Borough Council office. The list has been closed from to-day, and the books handed over. There ai-e '90 names Oh the borough list, mostly those of single men, some of whom are. known to have secured work without notifying 'the I>or'o"ti£h. This position was foreseen some time ago, and it was the reason the Public Works Department was "asked to provide work.
