RICCARTON GOSSIP.

CHIDE FANCIED TOR TO-MORROW. LEADER AND PINK COAT IN TWO' GUINEAS. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The ploughed track at Riccarton is now available for use by the trainers. A few horses are being worked on it, but some time will elapse before it is in its best order for fast gallops. The trouble which made it necessary to ease First Sight inhh r work has been located in a hock, wh.ch will be fired as a preliminary to a long epell. Chide has done a lot of good work during the last few weeks, and ho' will be •strongly fancied for the Ashburton Handicap, despite the fact that he has a lot more weight than he appears to have earned.

Mr. C. G. Dalgety's mare Limelight, by Solferino from Stardancer, lias foaled a filly to the imported horse Silverado, by Polymelus from Silver Tag. Two other mares who have foaled Jillies to the same horse are Mr. G. Murray Aynsley'e Reproa. Acliful and Contempt, both by Bonny Glen from Lady Disdain. Although Leader is booked to remain in Auckland for the Great Northern Guineas early next month, it is possible that he will be left in the Dunedin Guineas. With a week between the two events he could compete in both.

The South Canterbury three-year-old Pink Coat will be a competitor in the Farewell Handicap at Aehburtou otp' Saturday provided he trains gn all right, 011 which point there seems no doubt. At present he may be sent to Auckland to fulfil his engagement in the Great Northern Guineas next month. He also figures in the Dunedin Guineas. DEATH OF GOODWILL

That promising hack Goodwill died at Hastings on Tuesday night as the result of internal troubles. Goodwill raced at the Wanganui meeting last week.
