PROSECUTION URGED.
i BANKRUPT TOBACCONIST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A- meeting, of the creditors in the estate of F. White, tobacconist, was held yesterday. His financial statement showed £603 owing to secured creditors, and ho estimated the value of his securities at £700. In addition He owed £825 to unsecured creditors. His assets comprised stock in trade, fittings, book debts, furniture, and surplus of securities, totalling £409, leaving a deficiency of £415.. • After a searching examination of bankrupt by the Official Assignee and. counsel for the principal creditors, the meeting decided unanimously that the Official Assignee be instructed* to place the facts before the Crown Solicitor,''with a recommendation that bankrupt be prosecuted, if the Crown Solicitor, was satisfied that there was a case ;to answer. , The Official Assignee said bankrupt had contravened tlie Bankruptcy Act by failing to keep proper books. His receipts showed takings of between £250 arid £300 a month, which, at a profit of ',25 per cent or more, should have enabled him to carry on,, when his expenses were only about £200.
