CLEARING NOXIOUS WEEDS.

TAKAPUNA PROSECUTIONS.

The Takapuna Borough Council issued eight summonses against owners for having failed to clear gorse off their land. The cases were heard by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when fines of 10/ and costs were imposed. One man said he paid £5 to have his section cleared last year, and he was cutting it in his spare time this season. Inspector Wheeler said the gorse seemed to grow as fast as somo people could cut it.
