Huge Tank Of Paraffin Takes Alight. TERRIBLE ORDEAL AT HULL. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, September 17* Hull's new oil port at Hedon, where all' the big storages are concentrated, was the scene of "a terrific fire following an expl6sion :! iri the' Anglo-American Oil Company's 7 500,000' 'gallon . tank of paraffin. The roof was blown to fragments, windows were shattered and workmen.were thrown down. An immense wall of flame shot up hundreds of feet, enveloping a wide area in a pall of black smoke. All available chemicals were collected in Hull to fight the .flames. Brigades were summoned from a distance 50 miles., The burning tank is one of. a cluster • of eighteen on which water has • been successfully played to prevent ignition. It is estimated that the tank will take 4S hours' to burn out.
