CONCLIFFE IMPROVING. SALIENT DOING STEADY WORK. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHEISTCHURCH, this day. Tlio race track at Addington lias had a lot of work done on it during the last few months, as a result of which it has become hard and uneven close to the rails. It is now being lightly ploughed, uul all training work is being done on the outside of the course. The ploughing will be beneficial. A big three-year-old trotter, by Nelson Bingen from a Petercta mare, has just been put in work by R. J. Marshall t Addington. Dulmeny, Logan Park and Concliffc were associated in a useful work-out at Addington this morning, the three pacers going at a solid pace over nearly two miles. All three look bright and well. Concliffo in particular shows a lot of improvement. The tliree-vear-old trotter Fairyland, by Guy Parrish from Dreamland, is at present having a short spell. She will resume work in a month, and be prepared for the New Zealand Sires' Produce Stakes, the only classic event for trotters in the Dominion. A. Cox lias just received from Dunedin a well grown two-year-old colt by Lorenes Todd. The youngster goes at the trotting gait, and although Cox has only had him a few days, he is well pleased "with the manner in which the colt is shaping in his work. Salient put up a good showing in the Belfast Handicap at New Brighton, where he ran third to Cushla D'or and Y-ernac. The big Brent Locanda gelding looks none the worse for his race, and he is doing steady work at Addington. The cx-Souilihinder, County King, was on the Addington Track this morning, doing slow jogging work. The latest arrival in Tomkinson's stables is a solidly-built chestnut pacer, And he goes fairly well without the hopples. He was a good performer last season in the South. He is by John Dillon from County Queen, the dam of Queen's Own. lleverie, by Peter Moko from Dreamland, has been recomniissioned, and is being given steady work. He did not race well as a three-year-old, and he was not raced at all last season.
Headlight, who is a half-brother by Matchlight to Aleron, is doing steady work at Addington. He is a quality looking pacer, and is in the same stable as his relative.
