FAULT IN PACIFIC CABLE

IRIS EXPECTED TO-MORROW.

Prompt repairs to the fault in one of the Pacific Cable Board's cables was executed by the steamer' Iris on' Monday night. The fault had been located near Norfolk Island and, having left Auckland on Thursday, the Iris arrived there on Sunday morning. As the weather was unfavourable on Sunday, grappling operations were put oil' until the next clay. Repairs were finished at midnight and the vessel left immediately for Auckland. She is expected to arrive to-mor-row.
