VICTORS AND VANQUISHED. DAPHNE DE ORO'S WIN. Wall showed a lot of speed in the Earthquake Handicap, but, as anticipated, lie did not go steadily. Once Tomkinson gets him to trot throughout a race lie will be hard to beat, but be requires more experience.
Tot Logan was second favourite for the Earthquake Handicap, and, after racing in third place most of the journey, she came on and beat Mount Royal comfortably for second place. She bad no chance with the winner, but she will win before long.
Sonoma Laddie, who was second to Alcron in the Karamea Handicap, went, much better than at New Brighton. He created a good impression last season, and he should soon be a winner, as he stays well.
(Jushla d'Or was favourite for the Kanunea Handicap, consequent on her form at New Brighton, but she was fractious at the post. She lost a lot of ground, and this settled lier chance, though she paced a brilliant race to finish a close fourth.
Glideaway was the popular pick in the Murehison Handicap, but she gave a poor display. Going to the mile post she put in a strong run, but site mixed lier gait. Sho made another dash, but she was never pacing smoothly. The success of Daphne de Oro in the Murehison Handicap was popular. She met witli an accident last season, but though she retains an ugly looking fetlock she seems to bo quite sound. She was handled very patiently in this race, and only put in her Thiini when the straight was reached. Now that she has struck form she should soon earn more moiiev.
Zenith paced another good run in the Murchison Handicap. He led the licld most of the way, and only sumimbcd to the winner in the last few strides.

The board therefore imposes on the owner the maximum penalty of £20 for a breach of Rule 184.'" The board also expressed its dissatisfaction with the part played by Trainer S. A. Eagan, who showed a serious lack of appreciation of his duties as a public trainer in not seeing that the information as to the performances within his knowledge was supplied by the owner at the time of -nomination.
