TOMKINSON BUSY.

ON THE ADDINGTON TRACK. TWO-YEAR-OLD BY SHEIK. (By Telegraph.—Special "to " Star.") CHRISTCTIURCH, Saturday. T. G. Fox's two-year-old filly by Sheik from Lovebird is not being hurried in her preparation, but is doing useful work. She is an evenly-gaited pacer and the only one of her sire's progeny in the Dominion. Krcisler continues to do good work in training, although ho is not yet thoroughly wound up. He went a solid race in the mile and a-quarter at New Brighton last week. Kreislcr is a somewhat moody pacer, but lie has a lot of speed. The three-year-old iilly Flossie Harvester is a half-sister to the pacer Tom Thumb. She is a quality looking young pacer, and is trained by G. McKemlry at Addington. In tho Belfast Handicap at New Brighton last week Flossie 11a r-

vester raced very green, but the race should do licr a lot of good. The pacer Ethiopian has met with nn injury and will require a good spell before he is raced again. He is by Wihhvood Junior from a Prince Imperial mare, and he went into Tomkinson's stable a little less than six months ago. He was a bit of a handful 011 the track when first seen at headquarters, but Tomkinson gradually got him going satisfactorily, and last season lie started on six occasions, winning onco and being placed three times. The black pacer looks like making a useful performer this season, as lio is a- good stayer. Since arriving at -Addington Logan Brae, the brother to Logan Park, has not been asked to do any fast work. Logan Brae has a big private reputation, but lie has not so far produced it in public, it remains to bo seen if Tomkinson can improve Logan Brae as much as he has done Logan Park. Bonnie Locanda showed a lot of improvement when she raced in the Belfast Handicap at New Brighton last week. J. Davidson has the Brent Locanda pacer going really well, and she may win a good race for him iu the near future. Dusky Pointer was doing a lot ot useful work prior to the New Brighton meeting last week, but in his raeo he failed to show up prominently. 110 is best suited to mile and a-half races, and it is iu these events that most of the maiden performers make their debut and accomplish fast times from the limit of the handicap. In the Belfast Handicap Dusky Pointer was 011 48 yards and C'ushla d'Or 011 the limit of a 3.40 class. Cushla d'Or went .1.30 1-5, which would have necessitated Dusky Pointer doing 3.20 to have beaten her while he was handicapped 011 a 3.30 mark.

TRAVIS AXWORTHY UNLUCKY. Travis Axworthy was the unlucky horse of the Murchison Handicap. He suffered interference when Trimmer broke at the start, and had to be pulled up. The ground he lost settled his chance, and he did not get a. good run through the race, but he put up a great performance to finish third.
