MOTOR ACCIDENTS.
KNOCKED DOWN BY LORRY. TWO MEN SEVERELY INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREL this day. Knocked down by a motor lorry on Saturday evening, two miners, John Davidson and Joseph Boyd, of Kamo, were admitted to Whangarei Hospital with extensive injuries. Anxiety was felt for Davidson, who had abrasions to his face and head, six fractured ribs, many bruises on his legs and cuts on his hands. His condition is reported satisfactory. Boyd's injuries comprise a wound in the forehead, a left ear nearly torn off. and numerous abrasions. It -is understood the men were returning home after spending the evening with Mr. Boyd's brother on Kamo Springs flat. They had just crossed the railway line at Ruatangata when in the dazzle of lights created from a passenger bus I and a lorry driven by Mr. George RichI aids, of Whangarei, the accident occurred. A motor truck, driven by Mr. JWalker, and a motor lorry owned by the Whangarei Dairy Company, collided at Maungakaramea. at about 7 a.m. yesterday. The driver of the lorry was Mr. Leo Woods. The front of the lorry was damaged and the truck was wrecked. CAR CRASHES INTO BANK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE PUKE, this day. A motor car driven by Mr. Paddy Webber. on Te Matai Road, near Te Puke, last evening, was descending a steep incline on a dangerous piece of road when it swerved and crashed into a bank. The driver and threeother occupants crawled unhurt from the wreckage. The accident was due to a faulty steering gear and to the locking of the wheels. Had the car swerved in the opposite direction the' result might have been tragic, for the road slopes off suddenly into a deep gorge.
