STOLE KAURI GUM.

MAN SENT TO GAOL. The theft of a quantity of kauri gum valued at £3.5/ belonging to L. S. Maxwell and Co. was admitted by Walter Frederick McCarthy (43), a driver, at the Police Court this morning. It was stated by Chief Detective Hammond that McCarthy stole the gum and disposed of it. He had a long list of previous , convictions. Drink was his trouble. After perusing the list, Mr. Hunt, S.M., ordered McCarthy to serve one month in gaol.
