BRITAIN AND EGYPT.

Dominions Concerned Over Forthcoming Treaty. , ALARM EXPRESSED. (United Service.) LONDON, August 2. A committee of the' Cabinet lias drafted a treaty between Britain and Egypt. This will be submitted to a full meeting of the Cabinet, shortly. A report from Cairo suggests that the text of the draft may-be published there soon. The Prime Minister, Mr. Eamsay MacDonald, says he considers the proposed treaty would provide adequate safeguards for the interests of the Empire. He believes Australia and New Zealand will be. satisfied with adequate guarantees for the safety.of the Suez Canal. Apparently Mr. Mac Donald is surprised at the alarm expressed in Australia and New Zealand about the Suez Canala as he makes it clear that Britain is no less dependent upon its absolute safety. Accordingly the Labour Government never for a moment intended to introduce any legislation to challenge that safety.
