FIREMAN'S FAREWELL.

A LAST LOXG DRINK

Half a dozen firemen who decided to have a last long drink up town were responsible for delaying the departure of the steamer Maheno for Sydney by a qnarter of an hour this morning. Three minutes after sailing time two of the delinquents* arrived 011 the wharf, one steering his more wobbly companion through the crowd and up the gangway. Ten minutes later the rest of the thirsty ones put in an appearance, one inquiring loudly, '""Wha's all the trouble?'' As the ship moved away from tin; wharf the merriest of the sextet draped himself over the rail and burst into a song which might have been anything from "Auld Lang Syne" to "Tipperary."
