Three Seats Captured From
Labour Party.

CAPETOWN, June 12
The early results of polling in the general election gave a big lead-to the South African party. At midnight the state'of parties was:— South African party 25 Nationalist • "1 Labour S Colonel Creswell, the Labour leader, was returned, and the Labour candidates returned so far include one of his supporters. Mr. Boy dell, Minister of Labour, was defeated. t
Labour has lost three seats to the South African party, notably Turffontein, where Mr. Sturrock, a prominent industrialist, was returned; and the South African party regained Langlaagte, where Mr. Christie, chairman ot the° Labour Council, was defeated.
Polling was unexpectedly heavy throughout the country. The early urban results showed largely increased South African party majorities. Mr. Duncan, formerly Minister of the Interior, Public Health and Education, was re-elected for Yeoville, .and a young advocate named Lawrence captured the Salt River, a railway works constituency, from Labour.
