Prices of foodstuffs show little alteration from last week, except in fruit and vegetables, which are affected by the changing season. Outdoor tomatoes are now lOd per ib, with the hothouse varieties 2d dearer. Supplies of American oranges are practically exhausted, but have been replaced by the Australian fruit from Sydney at the same price, 3/ per dozen. The passion fruit season is nearly over, and the best grades are now fetching 2/6 per dozen. Supplies of fish during the week have been good, and there is still an increasing demand for it. Prices have remained steady, and it is hoped that present rates will hold for the winter months. To-day's quotations are: — Eggs.
