SCHOOL AND SOLARIUM.
SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION'S PLANS.
BUILDING TO COST £2000.
An address was given by the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy yesterday at a meeting of the ladies' auxiliary of the Sunshine Community Association.
The Minister, who until recently was a member of the board of directors of the association, spoke in, favour of the sunshine school and solarium. The work being undertaken would have a beneficial effect on the mental, moral and physical health of the future generation. The movement was blazing the trail for the whole of New Zealand.
Permission was given a special committee to call for tenders for the erection of a new building in the association's grounds in Nelson Street. The structure will be in wood designed on the most modern lines. On the ground floor there will be class rooms and rest rooms. The roof will serve as the solarium, where treatment will be given to delicate and convalescent children from any school or hospital near Auckland. The treatment will be under the closest medical supervision, and it is hoped that the association will have the full time services of a qualified nurse and a school teacher to superintend the health and education of the patients. It is estimated that the building will cost £2000.
