WHANGAREI WINTER SHOW.

THRICE CHAMPION ROOSTER. ANNEXES MEMORIAL SHIELD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANG ARE I, Wednesday. The Whangarei Winter Show was thrown open to the public last night, although the official ceremony did not take place until this afternoon, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe officiating. Despite wet weather there was a good attendance. The drill hall was again being used as an adjunct to the main building, and both were filled with attractive displays. There are 29 stalls, including tlie Forestry and Agricultural Departments' exhibits. The school entries , are a record. Mr. Ebenezer Allan, of Pukekohe, commented favourably upon the vegetables, but found competition in farm produce weak. A rooster owned by Mr. Rumbal was judged to be the best bird in the show, and won the Owen Memorial Shield for the third time. The shield now becomes the property of the owner.
