SAMOAN AFFAIRS.
Now that inefficiency, muddle and sheer injustice have been proved to the hilt in the case of Samoa, I am wondering what action !■ to be taken in our sliame by way of some small reparation to Messrs. Nelson. Gurr and Smythe and the harassed people, who, according to Mr. Justice Blair's judgment, are not under British rule or law. If this decision is tenable, under what law of the League of Nations is the Samoan chief committed to imprisonment? 1 was not at the recent Town Hall meeting, but from what I hear from unbiased folk who did attend it seem* that our "mailed fist" policy there has been a sad reflection on those responsible, including Mr. Noswortliy, who. I am more than amazed to observe, is now among those honoured br TTtf Majesty. NEW ZEALAXDER.
