FOUND DROWNED.
OLD SOUTHLAND FOOTBALLER,
BODY IX ESTUARY

INVERCARGILL, this day
The body of Mr. B. Bain, of Avenal Road, was found in the estuary on Sat; urday. The deceased, who was aged 57, was a single man and had resided in Invercargill all his life. For about 25 years lie was employed by a draperv firm, and latteTly had been engaged iii fishing at Stewart Island, where he proceeded for health reasons.
Mr. Bain was a prominent athlete in his younger days, a Southland footballer for 15 years. He also was a speedy pedestrian, having won the 100 yds Sheffield at the Irish Athletic ' Society's sports and numerous other similar gatherings. He took a keen interest in swimming, boating and boxing, having been a member of committees managing these sports.
