WHANGAREI SCHOOLS.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER, MRS. DONALDSON SUPPORTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. - The Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. JStallworthy, received a deputation yesterday from the Whangarei High School Board, urging the heating of the main school building, the establishment of new manual classrooms on the board's property, the erection of a residence for the principal, a grant for the re-erecting of the caretaker's cottage which was destroyed by fire, and a grant for additional dormitory accommodation at the girls' hostel.
The Minister expressed sympathy with the requests, and intimated that he would pass them on to the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education.
After the conference the board wired inviting the Minister of Education to visit Whangarei in the near future.
A combined meeting of the Whangarei School Committees last evening decided to support the candidature of Mrs. Viva Donaldson for the existing vacancy on jjic Education Board. It was also decided to make representations to the Education Department in favour of the appointment of a third member for the' North Ward and of a division in the ward.
When the Hon. Mr. Atmore visits Whangarei shortly he will be asked that a member to represent the parents of junior high scholars be appointed to the High School Board of Governors.
