PIG MARKETING.
A BUSY MONTH. ASSOCIATION REPORT. The following report has been issued by the Xow Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association:—"Supplies of pigs continue to come forward regularly. The last month was a record one, 5685 pigs being handled. The association has large forward orders to fill for pigs ranging from 601b to 1401b. In order to meet these orders the advance payment has been increased to 4%d per lb on all pigs in this range. : The advance payment on other pigs will ! be as in the past, 3d per lb, although the prospects for these heavier pigs are good. The season has been a particularly fortunate one. The scale prices this season have not fallen below 4%d, and for a large portion of the season they have been 5d per lb. The London market has been steady, and the Australian market has consumed a large number of New Zealand pigs. The quality of the pigs handled throughout the season has been satisfactory. The pigs are being disposed of at satisfactory prices as quickly as they come into the works. The association has handled a steady flow of ham and bacon orders, and reports from various parts of i the country testify to the quality of the bacon. A first bonus of Id per lb is lieiiiET paid out forthwith on all porkers' in the second-seventh pools. There should be a small final bonus to come on these pigs. It is hoped to clean up the seventh and eighth baconer pools at the end of the present month, md the indication to that the pay-out will be satisfactory.
